Nixie Clock Base

So my attempts to be artsy with photography have thwarted any expository value of this photo, but here's the base I built to house the nixie clock kit my mom and dad bought me for my birthday (ok they surrendered in the face of extreme geekery and gave me money which I used to buy a nixie kit)

It's a piece of irregular maple outfitted with machined tube straps and dead lightbults - 2 of my favorite things!

If you aren't familiar with nixie you can read up on it here.

It's about time I mentioned that if it weren't for my Dad and the Tippett shop master Andy, and his brother Bart the metalworker, I would probably never get very far with any of these projects. I am always full of retarded or perplexing questions:
'what's the difference between a nipple and a couple?'
'can I accidentally gas myself with this?'
'why did this turn out so sticky?'
these people are invaluable source of wisdom and I am grateful every single day for their support and help.

Thanks Dad! Thanks Andy! Thanks Bart!
